SAFETY AWARENESS

Here are some safety tips and important guidelines concerning gasoline and a comprehensive look at the do's and dont's of recycling used motor oil.

GASOLINE IS DANGEROUS AND EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE.  CAREFULLY READ ALL CAUTIONS ON GASOLINE CONTAINERS.  REVIEW AND ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN USING YOUR PORTABLE FUEL CONTAINER.

SAFETY AWARENESS FOR GASOLINE:

- GASOLINE IS EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE.

- GASOLINE VAPORS CAN EXPLODE.

- KEEP OUT OF REACH  OF CHILDREN!

USED MOTOR OIL RECYCLING INFORMATION:

When used motor oil is improperly disposed of, it can make its way into ground and surface waters causing serious pollution and safety hazards.  Disposing of motor oil in a sealed container is not proper disposal, and can also cause pollution.  Please recycle used motor oil properly and help protect the environment.

Some facts about used motor oil:

 - Contaminants such as arsenic, cadmium, chlorinated compounds, copper, chlorides, cromium, lead,
magnesium, and zinc are contained in used motor oil.

 - One million gallons of drinking water can be contaminated by just one gallon of used motor oil.

 - More than 40 percent of the total oil pollution of our nation's harbors and waterways is caused by
   used motor oil.

 - Burning used motor oil does not constitute proper disposal.  Burning used motor oil releases
harmful toxins into the air that cause damage to the environment.

 - Leaving used oil exposed in various containers in garages or yards can create a fire hazard and
increases risk of spills and pollution.

What you can do to properly dispose of used motor oil and protect our environment:

Recycle used motor oil at a local collection facility.  Local auto parts shops or any location where oil is sold will usually accept anywhere from 3 to  5 gallons of used motor oil at little or no cost. Contact your local shop for more information or call your nearest recycling/disposal center.

Always store used motor oil in tightly secured and clearly labeled containers designated for disposal.  As is the case with any hazardous material, always store used motor oil and gasoline out of the reach of children and outside of your living area.
